Robinson County, this is how to set the bar high! Robeson County catches a lot of criticism but at the same time this same place has produced some the strongest, most intelligent and loving people this country has ever produced. Warriors! That’s what adversity does, it forces you to evolve beyond boundaries and limitations. It calls for creative solutions and new alliances forged in fire. While the criminal justice system was designed by people who would’ve rather seen Ben Crump hogtied and lynched for his fearlessness, many people have worked and sacrificed to see it repurposed as an instrument of the highest potential of all of us, even those who have suffered most under it.

No pure effort goes to waste. It is my prayer that one day our children will rock t-shirts with lawyers and judges on them, that they will be as fascinated with court drama as they are with sports, music and gang banging. Most of all, I want to see them bring that devotion to serving one another. The law isn’t the only way to do that but it is one of the most effective. It’s a source of power that we have relinquished. It’s time we reclaim it!
