Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th!

To the superstitious this is a bad day but to me its associated with FREEDOM.

Friday the 13th in August 1993 is the last day that I was free.

Last night we talked with Samad. Check out our Cell Session at http://on.SoundCloud.com/yR8FS.

He was supposed to be getting out tomorrow but there was a change of plans…They released him this morning instead. He woke me up with the news. So, for him I hope that Friday the 13th will forever be associated with Freedom, and like the Phoenix we are, rising from the ashes anew.

Most people in prison are set free soon after they are caged.

Salute to all of the people out there who want to see us come home better people and who work to provide the opportunities for that to happen.

I’m talking about All the prison volunteers, the prison staff who treat us like humans and always get the same respect in return from Convicts, and the Family and Friends who support us, who keeps us connected to the world so that we can come home as soon as possible and come home part of a community that we can contribute to and grow with.

Let’s pray that Samad, all those who went home today, and their beloved communities will remember Friday the 13th as a blessed day of new beginnings.
